(Re)discover the best-of 2018:

11, 691 runners

March 19th 2018

Record of participation under the Phocene sun

This morning, the whole of Marseille came together in Run In Marseille’s three races, with a new record number of participants: 11,691 runners at the start.

3 routes along the seafront
There were those who came to run the 10k between the Castellane and the City Hall to test themselves, to discover Marseille differently and to share a sporting occasion with friends or family. For the second year in a row gender parity was achieved as 50% of participants on the start line were women!

There were the determined runners, those who set off from the Cathédrale de la Major heading for the most beautiful parts of the Phocean city in the half-marathon, including a wonderful stretch along the renowned Corniche.

And then there were the marathon runners, who set off from Les Goudes, the Parc National des Calanques’ mythical setting, for 42.195k with the Vieux Port as their focal point. A guaranteed change of scene, with a perfect view of France’s oldest city.

Aline Camboulives (FRA) and Hrioued Alaa (MAR) winners of the marathon
The morning’s fresh weather gave way to the warmth of the Mediterranean and a slight invigorating breeze.
With its slightly steep route, the Marseille Marathon is not the easiest one to allow the best athletes in the world to challenge the world record. But that didn’t prevent a great fight along the whole route, with a win for Morocco’s Hrioued Alaa (2:21:06), in the sprint ahead of Spain’s Mohamed Marhoum (2:21:06) and Kenya’s Peter Komu (2:25:54). In the women’s category, France’s Aline Camboulives was the winner for the second year in a row in a time 2:45:11, far ahead of Maximila Jerotich and Anne-Gaelle Cherdel.

What a great atmosphere!

March 19th 2017

This weekend 11,156 of you ran on Run in Marseille’s three routes.  Congratulations to all of you who contributed to making this fourth edition of Run In Marseille a wonderful celebration of running in the heart of the Phocean city!

Whether you took up the challenge of the marathon, ran with your friends on the Half-Marathon or improved your performance on the 10k, we would like to thank you all for coming and congratulate you for your motivation.  And what an atmosphere: the “Bonne Mère” enjoyed seeing you speeding through the streets of Marseille!

Moreover, there were more women than men running in Run in Marseille’s 10k race.  Congratulations to everyone and thank you ladies! Muriel Hurtis, our ambassador and former Olympic 4x100m relay champion, would also like to congratulate you: « Women run more and more as it’s an accessible sport, and an environment which is very conducive to women’s running is developing.  The parity on Run In Marseille’s 10k illustrates that women want to do sport and no longer let obstacles get in their way. »

In any case, we hope you enjoyed yourself and that even more of you come back again next year!

We wish you all a great recovery!

An amazingly festive atmosphere!

March 21st 2016

Congratulations to all of you who contributed to making this third edition of Run In Marseille a wonderful celebration of the pleasure of running!

Your enthusiasm-boosted by the talent of the musicians present on the route and the generosity of the volunteers-was communicative: never before had Marseille played host to such a huge pack. Whether you took part in the marathon, the half-marathon or the 10km, you were able to discover another facet of the Phocean city and run right next to the Mediterranean before the magnificent finish on the Vieux-Port.

Nathalie Simon, the patron of the event and the former French windsurfing champion was delighted about the parity registered in the 10km: “It’s amazing. When I began my sporting career, they were a lot less women. I think that this trend will continue and develop: women are more resistant than men, in life, at any rate!”

We wish you all a great recovery and look forward to seeing you for the fourth edition of Run In Marseille!
